Cuisine ; Tteokbokki (떡볶이)

Hello there! Now in this post I'd like to introduce to you a food that my family and I enjoy a lot. It is called tteokbokki (떡볶이; or also known as teokbokki, ddeokbokki, topokki, dukboki or simply tokpoki). It is a street Korean food which has gone worldwide. Tteokbokki is made out of soft rice cake boiled with korean sweet spicy red chili sauce. It tastes so delicious for my family and I that we often buy it so much. It tastes sweet and spicy at the same time and with various variation it has much more distinct taste. There are many variation of tteokbokki apart from the original one, there are cheese tteokbokki, ramen tteokbokki, noodle ttekbokki, and many more. We can also add many more ingredients to the mix to simply enhance the taste. The topping can also be altered to add the delicious taste. we can add vegetables, noddles, eggs, fried treats, fish cakes (reccomended),and so much more.
Tteokbokki originated back there in Korea, it was initially a royal food for the Korean royal family, the Joseon dynasty. But as time goes by globalization happens and this dish turned out to be very popular. Tteokbokki can also be found in medical records: a book called “신뇨찬요 (Shingnyo chanyo)” written by Jeon Sunui, a medical officer in the Joseon dynasty (1460). The purpose of the book was to cure people through food and tteokbokki was part of it. Nowadays we can find this dish in street vendor or high class restaurant.

Holiday of 2014

(Hi! So this is the very first entry I make in this year so I am very excited! Anyway, go on)
So, it’s holiday season again. Already done with the current semester when I was just getting the grip of it. Anyway, this holiday, christmas and new year (there’s gotta be some jolly yippie coming out of me somehow but really, nothing comes up) was spent with my families back in a scorching, hot city named Karawang. The weather was normally hot, believe me, I know since I spent a few years there, but recently the city has become an industrial area, making it even hotter somehow. Maybe because the fact that I got used to the chill weather of Bandung, so really, the scorching weather was utterly unbearable. My mom and my sister  went to Karawang by car in the morning, the journey lasted for 2 hours, more or less. When we got there it was conveniently on 12 o clock so the temperature was practically burning the nape of my neck. We stayed in my aunt’s house during our visit there, so I darted toward the house once we reached the house, seeking sanctuary from the burning heat inside the house. After having a painfully long kiss and greet session, I discovered the fan standing gloriously in the corner, excusing myself I scooted toward it and turned it on, gosh it felt like heaven breeze. So after that we unpacked our luggage and loaded them into the guest room. After that I took a bath because I simply needed one. Then my cousins and I watched a drama which titled in seasons.
The next day, after finishing the drama current season we were watching, my cousins and I wanted to stroll around the neighborhood, so we took the motorcycle and rode around. Well actually, I wasn’t the who was in the driving seat because can’t ride a motorcycle. Knowing this fact, my cousin cracked up and announced that I should learn how to before I leave from there. So after a journey to the nearest convenient store and buying some ice cream and much much chilled beverages required for everyone in the house, my cousin and I had a quick how-to-ride-a-motorcycle session. You might ask, why was it quick? Did I master it quickly? Well sorry to disappoint you, but it was a quick learning session because I fell too many times and cakes in dirt and can barely continue so I called it off. After that we took a bath (separatedly) and continued watching the next season of the drama.
I spent the next day by visiting my relatives in the town. We covered the area quickly and then my cousin from another line of relative (so many relative I lost count) told my cousin and I that there was an expo in the town’s  square. So we decided we should visit the expo. The expo was made to commemorate somekind of an annual event. There was a large group of things there, I bought some lenses for photography. My cousins also bought the same thing, they also got themselves some shirts. After that we did some more sightseeing and got back home.
The next day, my cousin had an appointment to make a driver’s license with our uncle. We woke up early and got ready to go. Why was I coming together? Because she thought I might need to get out of the house and do some more sightseeing, even though the temperature outside was reaching boiling point, huh. To make the said driver’s license we got to the traffic police’s department there and took a queue card. When her number was called she got into the room and did some tests and filled some forms too. After that we were told to wait a few more minutes for the license to come out. We had to wait a solid 3 and a half hours but finally the license was out and her photo came out funny so we had a good laugh at it, well, I did, ha ha.
So the next day was the last day we were in town. My mother, sister and I visited the graveyard of my grandmother. After that we visited the many relatives (once again) to bid goodbye. And then we took off to Bandung.

My Passions, Dreams, and Goals.

Hello there, now in this post I would like to share about my passions, dreams, and goals, which mean a lot to me.
Since I was a toddler I have always been mesmerized by the national geographic channel. I always like those programs that showed laboratory science and things. I like how the people in the program doing those chemistry things which utilize the scientific theories and breaks them down so it looks interesting in the audiences' eyes.I also like how they experiment thinfs in an interesting way. It really fascinated me in many ways so that I am now particularly like pure science because of that. But even though I like those things, my current real passion is musical and theatrical things. I play violin and participate in my school's theatre club. Doing those things which utilize the right side of the brain balances out the usage of our brain, so we can learn more efficiently, theorically saying. But really, I have firsthand experience how music and things help me balances out my emotional side so I can study bettee and get good grades.
Long ago someone from my family, I don't remember who, went overseas and stayed there for a few years and returned. I heard the stories about places overseas, and it was awesome. I was blown away by the stories of how much Indonesia differs in many ways. Since then, I have always been longing to study abroad, and if possible, live overseas-preferrably in America or French or Korea or Japan. But really I would be grateful if I can live overseas anywhere but here. I longed to get out of here.
I dont really have any particular goal in mind, because I am not the kind of person who makes a chart or plan and then follows it. But if things get rough, I always remind myself of one thing : study well so you can live overseas. That one simple thought helps me get through everythig for the past years. I really think I should get a good settlement and good job overseas so I can support my family here in Indonesia while I live my dreams abroad.

Storytelling

The Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf
This isn’t the usual cliche horror story. This is not a story that has a happy ending. This is actually, a story of the wolf.
So, as you know, the wolf is a fearsome creature. He ruled the woods alone. He topped the food chain in the woods. The wolf has a secret. He was lonely. He grew up in a pack of wolf. He was used to having much skinship and cuddlings. Outside, he might be the fearsome big bad wolf but inside he was a fuzzy teddy bear.
The Red Riding Hood is devastated. She didn;t know whether she could continue to live like. The thing is, she had just lost her dear grandmother due to old age. Her one and only  guardian and the figure she looks up to. Now it’s only her against the world. Sure, the villagers would keep their promise to look after her, but it wouldn’t be the same as before.
She used to be an energetic, lively and talkative child, but since her loss it changed. The villager who took care of her, Tina, have repeatedly found her crouched inside her wardrobe, crying and hyperventilating, shivering out of fear. She had trouble sleeping because she often had severe panic attacks whenever she sleeps. Whenever she closes her eyes and sleep all hell breaks loose and she would scream on top of her lung, tears streaming down her face. She would spend the rest of the night tucked inside her wardrobe, shivering.
But the one place where she could act normal is in the woods. She don’t know why, but she feels safe in the woods, contrary to what the villagers’ said about the woods. She would escape her caretaker to the woods.

And one point, the wolf noticed that there was a change of atmopshere. He smelled something different, like an electric current hanging in the air. Suddenly he caught a scent. A scent so strong it hurt his olfactory buds just by smelling it. It brought the image of a safe haven to his mind. He rushed forward, searching for the owner of the scarce scent. He skidded to a halt when he found the owner of the scent was a little girl. Wet, cold, shivering child. She was sitting between two big roots of a tree and pulling her knees closer to support her weighing little head.  He could practically smell massive fear blossoming from her tiny stature, a contradiction that conjured sense of sympathetical uneasiness in his heart.
He broke down at the sight. How could a child be so miserable and devastated? He whimped and insctinctively strode closer to the child. She glanced up, not even surprised by a small measure that a big rowdy wolf was coming toward her. He nudged her by her shoulder. She croaked “Go away”, and tossed aside her body and hugged herself, clearly trembling out of nothing. He tried something else, he pushed forward so that his body was wrapped around the little girl. She cant help but lean to the warmth of the wolf. He snuggled closer and put his snout under his paw. She hugged him and calmed down. They stayed like that for a while, until she finally fell asleep.
That was only an example of how they spent their encounters in the woods. Her caretakers began to worry though, that the red riding hood would someday go into the woods, and never come back. The fear growed bigger everyday, because the red riding hood spent more time in the woods doing god knows what than in her house. Sure she no longer suffer from panic attacks and seizures since she began to spend time in the woods, but her caretaker was aware that there were dangers lurking in every corners of the woods. She warned red riding hood frequently about it, but everytime she would go into a fit of rage and escaped into the woods, again. She remembers that the village once had a problem long time ago because the villagers went missing in the woods, so clearly she has reasons for her fear.
So the caretaker told the other villagers about the problem, and they decided that no, the red riding hood can no longer visit the woods, for her own safety.
She Ran away to the woods the next day.

Amazing Place : N Seoul Tower

Hullo! Now in this post I would like to share with you an amazing place which is N Seoul Tower.
N oul Tower is a communication and observation tower located on Namsan Mountain in central Seoul, South Korea. It marks the highest point in Seoul. Built in 1969, and at a cost of approximately $2.5 million, the tower was opened to the public in 1980. Seoul Tower was completed on December 3, 1971, designed by architects jangjongryul. By August 1975, the third floor of the observatory room, museum, open hall, souvenir shop, and the other facilities, were open. The tower was open to the public for the first time on October 15, 1980. Since then, the tower has been a landmark of Seoul. It measures 236.7 m (777 ft) in height from the base and tops out at 479.7 m (1,574 ft) above sea level. It changed its name to N Seoul Tower in 2005. The "N" stands for 'new,' 'Namsan,' and 'nature.' Approximately 15 billion won was spent in renovating and remodeling the tower.
There are many amazing spots for enjoying Namsan Tower, but most people enjoy the top view because it is simply amazing. There is a place called The Love Padlocks, this place is called that because there is an iron framework that is filled with padlocks that people hang. these padlocks represent their relationships to last forever. After hanging those padlocks, they would throw away the keys.
There is also a place called The Teddy Bear Museum. This place is a heaven for those who like Teddy Bears. Because this place is filled with teddy bears. The teddy bears are placed like a miniature of historical scenes interestingly so we are entertained with it.
